AC Hotel Old Montreal
Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Year: 2025
The aesthetic direction for the AC Old Montreal is a contemporary and seamless celebration of the historic concept. The design language of this renovation is inspired by the original city planning that is still present in Montreal today. Varying scales of grids form the streets that expand and intersect with the grand St. Lawrence River. Drawing on the idea of connective grids and interconnected spaces as if viewing the city from an aerial view, the built experience translates in a subtle way from spatial interventions, colours, materials and artistic gestures. We found a balance between form and function, curating a precise collection of finishes, furniture, lighting and detailing tells our story, while ensuring alignment with the AC Brand values. Purposefully neutral and modern, harmonizing together, while a dialogue is created through the contrast of soft and sleek materials and simplicity is celebrated through familiarity of tactile qualities and comforting tones.
The AC Hotel Old Montreal was designed by Moncur Design Associates Inc. As senior designers we played significant roles in the development and completion of this project in collaboration with the MDAI team and under the direction of Robynne Moncur.
